Alice Davis

Alice Evelyn Spiers Davis passed away peacefully on Friday, October 19, 2018, with her daughter, Lois Ann Davis Watts, by her side. Alice was born on September 16, 1925, in Houston, Texas. Her parents were Hazel Emma Spiers and Cervera Spiers. After graduation from Carrabelle High School, Alice’s family moved to Tallahassee, Florida. Alice attended and graduated from Florida State College for Women which became FSU the following year. After her marriage to Leo Davis, Jr. in 1950, they settled in Bagdad, Florida. Alice became active in the Milton Garden Club for many years where she earned a National Counsel’s Master’s Judges Certificate and earned top awards in flower arranging as well as holding numerous leadership positions. She became a member of Bagdad United Methodist Church in the 1950’s where her husband’s family had been members for generations. Alice taught Sunday School, Bible School, was a Choir Director for 20 years, and served on committees as needed. Mildred Jernigan and Lillian Gibson were a great influence on her life in the church at that time. She was preceded in death by her parents; a half sister, June Ceasar of Houston, Texas; her soulmate and husband, Leo V. Davis, Jr.; a granddaughter, Emily Ann Watts; loving in-laws, Leo V. Davis, Sr. and Lois Davis; and a brother-in-law, John H. Davis of Bagdad, Florida. Alice is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Lois Ann Davis Watts and Doug Watts; her grandchildren, Miranda Alice Watts and Michael Davis Watts of Atlanta, Georgia; and her niece, Amy Davis of Bagdad, Florida. Alice will be greatly missed by family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 26, 2018, at Bagdad United Methodist Church in Bagdad, FL. Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., prior to the service. Burial will follow services in Bagdad Cemetery with Lewis Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations may be made in her memory to Bagdad United Methodist Church. Please mail memorial donations to: Bagdad United Methodist Church P.O.
