<p>Allen Ray Alverson, Jr, passed away Friday, January 8, 2016, at 77 years old.</p><p><br></p><p>He is preceded in death by his father, the late Lt. Commander Allen R. Alverson, Sr.; his mother, Sarah C. Alverson; and his brother, Charles William Alverson.</p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Nell (Duggar) Alverson; his two sons, Michael R. Alverson (Elke), and David L. Alverson (Nancy); his six grandchildren, Aimee Hunsucker (Scott), Amanda Faulk, (Richard), Christopher Alverson, Melissa Alverson, Christian Benner, and Mercedes Benner. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Adam, Madison, and Katelyn Faulk, and Avin and Braylin Meyers.</p><p><br></p><p>He was retired from Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida. He also worked at Hackbarth Delivery Service both as a driver and a mechanic.</p><p><br></p><p>Lewis Funeral Home in Milton is in charge of the arrangements. There will not be a service now but there will be a memorial "Celebration of Life" service next fall. The time of this service will be announced then. We hope that family and friends will join us then to remember him in a special way, we want it to be a happy time to share memories of Allen and the ways that he touched all of us.</p><p><br></p><p>Allen was a jack of all trades. It gave him great joy to be able to help others in different ways but especially working on their cars. He did for others quietly and in the background. Most people never knew how much that he did for people.</p><p><br></p>

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Nell (Duggar) Alverson; his two sons, Michael R. Alverson (Elke), and David L. He also worked at Hackbarth Delivery Service both as a driver and a mechanic. Allen was a “Jack of all trades”. It gave him great joy to be able to help others in different ways, but especially working on their cars. He did for others quietly and in the background. Most people never knew how much that he did for people. He is preceded in death by his father, the late Lt. Commander Allen R. Alverson, Sr.; his mother, Sarah C. Alverson; and his brother, Charles William Alverson. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Nell (Duggar) Alverson; his two sons, Michael R. Alverson (Elke), and David L. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 10, 2016, at Faith Chapel Assembly of God Church with Pastor Donald Leavins officiating. Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m., prior to the services. Lewis Funeral Home in Milton has been entrusted with local arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Joyce Goldenberg Hospice Inpatient Residence (10075 Hillview Drive, Pensacola, Florida 32514), or to Faith Chapel Assembly of God Church (8080 South Airport Road, Milton, Florida 32583).
