Amanda Preston

Amanda Sue Faircloth Preston was born in Donalsonville, Georgia, on January 18, 1932. She was the fourth child of thirteen children born to Eva and Franklin Bartow Faircloth of Donalsonville, Georgia. Being raised on a small family farm, she learned the values of hard work and dedication. She drew her strength from the Lord and love of family. She married the love of her life, Paul Preston. They were happily married for over 40 years until Paul was called to be with our Father in Heaven. Sue held her wedding vows close to her heart, for in it they were still connected. Then God favored to reunite their souls, and He took Sue home on July 10, 2019. Sue started her career as a Telephone Operator with Southern Bell. She then worked for the Department of the Navy as a Telephone Operator and Personnel Clerk, retiring after almost 25 years of faithful service. She took pride in her work and helped many people, even into her retirement. Mrs. Sue Preston was a member of Margaret Street church of Christ. Sue was preceded in death by her parents Eva and F.B. Faircloth, Sr.; her husband Paul Preston; her sisters Gwendolyn Hunt Heller, Monica Smith, Sabra Childress, Judy Wood Cloud, Katheryn Smith, and Etta Tucker; her brothers Calvin Faircloth, Franklin Bartow Faircloth, Jr., Donnell Faircloth, and Haydan Faircloth. Sue is survived by her daughters Paula Preston (Buz) Turner and Lori Preston; her son Steve Preston; her granddaughters April (Chris) Davis, Brooke (Jeffrey) Scott, Rylee Preston, Ashlyn Preston, Blakely Preston, and Carley Preston; her great grandchildren Tucker Davis, Corrie Davis, Avery Davis, Lanie Scott, and Olivia Scott, all of Milton, Florida; her brother Marshall (Patti) Faircloth of Tallahassee, Florida; her sister Charlotte (Boyd) Phillips of Donalsonville, Georgia; and her many nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mrs. Preston will be held in Milton at Lewis Funeral Home on Friday, July 12, from 5:00-6:00 pm for family and 6:00-8:00 pm for friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 13, at 2:00 pm at Lewis Funeral Home with minister Troy Spradlin officiating. Burial will follow at Serenity Gardens in Milton, Florida. Active Pallbearers will be Steve Preston, Buz Turner, Tony Preston, Park Lee, Mel Tucker, Larry Harrell, Chris Davis, Jeffrey Scott, Paula Preston Turner, and Lori Preston. Honorary Pallbearers will be Calvin Hunt, David Hunt, Jeff Childress, Lamont Smith, Buddy Faircloth, Craig Faircloth, Frank Faircloth, Marshall Faircloth, Ryan Preston, John Vaughn, and the NAS Whiting Field Fire Department. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Margaret Street church of Christ in memory of Sue Preston.
