Betty Anne Franklin, of Gulf Breeze, Florida, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2015. Betty Anne was born on September 25, 1931, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to Helen Johnson Peterson and Arnold Carl Peterson. She was a graduate of Stratford High School in Stratford, Connecticut, and the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Connecticut. In 1952, she married Horace B. Franklin and they enjoyed 62 1/2 years of marriage together. Betty Anne was a full time homemaker who was very dedicated to her family. Once the children were grown, she worked for Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, for 17 years before retiring to her first retirement house in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She also enjoyed many summers in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, vacationing with her family. Betty Anne was predeceased by her loving husband, Horace B. Franklin. She is survived by her three children, Sylvia (Kenny) Rogers of Roswell, Georgia, Rick Franklin of Gulf Breeze, Florida, and Bill (Terri) Franklin of Gulf Breeze, Florida; six grandchildren, Becky (Jason) VanNote, Rick Franklin, Michael Franklin, Kathy (Jeremy) Hogue, Ricky Franklin, and Barbara Rogers; and five great-grandchildren. "Grandma" loved spending time with her family, reading a good book, going out to eat, playing bridge or just watching the birds play in her backyard. She was a kind, wonderful person with a great sense of humor and a true love for life! She will be greatly missed by everyone who's lives she touched. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Lewis Funeral Home, Navarre Chapel, Navarre, Florida. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., prior to the service. Betty Anne will be cremated and her ashes will be scattered in the waters of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and Pensacola Bay, as she desired.
