Betty Jean McDonald, 86, of Milton, a devoted and loving military wife, mother, grandmother and sister, went home to join her Heavenly Father, and her husband, Gilbert, on the morning of Friday, February 3, 2017. Betty was born December 18, 1930, to parents, Clyde Allison and Verna (Trammel) Simpson, in San Antonio, Texas. Betty Jean was a faithful Christian, a life member of Eastern Star, a member of First Baptist Church of Milton and the Faith Sunday School Class. Betty and Gilbert returned to Santa Rosa County, Florida, after a long military career in the U.S. Air Force. This union was blessed with five children: three daughters, Beverly Creel, wife of Michael Creel, of Panama City, Florida; Barbara Edmonson, wife of Robert Edmonson, of Glenmora, Louisiana; Joyce Heflin, wife of Ray Heflin, of Pensacola, Florida; and two sons, Charles E. McDonald, and wife Peggy, of Piedmont, Alabama; and Robert A. McDonald, and wife Lori, of Jacksonville, Florida. She also leaves 46 grandchildren, and one sister, Mary Louise Pittman, of San Antonio, to cherish her memory. Betty was predeceased by her parents; and her husband of 50 years, Gilbert McDonald, of Munson and Milton, in February 2001. A Graveside Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at Serenity Gardens Cemetery in Milton, with Chaplain Mike Chappell officiating. Lewis Funeral Home, Milton, has been entrusted with arrangements.
