Betty Joyce Welch On Saturday, May 12, 2012, Betty Joyce Welch, 82, went to be with her Lord, after a brief stay at Covenant Hospice. She was born March 29, 1930 in Pace, Florida to Joseph and Ola Bell Lewis. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, William Welch, her husband of 59 years, two sisters Sina Mae Lindemood, Hazel “Boots” Mattson, and a brother, Joseph Edward Lewis. Survivors include one daughter Ola Faye Morrison of Milton, Fl; two sons Bill Welch, Jr. (Vicki) of Albertville, AL, and David Welch (Pamela) Milton, FL; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Joyce’s life revolved around her family and church. She was a member and leader of TOPS, active in the Ferry Pass Homemakers Club, Garden Club, and the Rose Society. She was a member of Olive Baptist Church for over 50 years and was active in the Adult Choir, WMU, teacher in Training Union and a leader in the Olive Widows Connection Group. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and being outdoors in God’s creation with her family. Joyce’s home going service will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Olive Baptist Church, with Dr. Ted Traylor officiating. Graveside service will follow at the Milton Cemetery. Visitation will be at noon at Olive Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to Olive Baptist Church -Ministry Village, 1836 East Olive Road, Pensacola, FL 32514. Lewis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
