Billy Joe Sublett, 63, of Navarre, passed away Friday, July 15, 2016. Billy was born August 28, 1952, in Ft. Chaffee, Arkansas, to Phillip and Frankie Sublett. He graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering Degree. He was a giving and loving man, always lending a helping hand. Billy loved God first, family second, and “always doing the right thing.” He never ceased telling his family and friends, “I love you” and made everyone around him feel special. He loved motorcycles, fishing, and having a good time. He is predeceased by his daughter, Paula Marie Journey. Billy is survived by his wife of 31 years, Karen Schroeder Sublett; two sons, Peter A. (Vanessa) Journey, Jr. of Navarre, Florida, Philip (Jody) Sublett of Centerville, Georgia; two lovingly adopted nieces, Heather Barrineau of Navarre, Florida, and LeAnna Dawson of Jackson, Mississippi. He also leaves to cherish his memory, four grandchildren, Julian Yee of Atlanta, Georgia, Faith Marie Journey of Navarre, Florida, Peter Anthony “Jimbo” Journey III of Navarre, Florida, and Levi Joseph Sublett of Centerville, Georgia. He is also survived by his parents, Phillip Eugene and Frankie Marie (Whitson) Sublett of Navarre; two brothers, Paul Edward (Mary) Sublett of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Gary Wayne (Rosaline) Sublett of Ashville, North Carolina; one sister, Jeannie Barrineau of Gulf Breeze, Florida; many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and his life-long friend and college mate, Edger Gentle. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 18, 2016, at Lewis Funeral Home, Navarre Chapel. Burial will be held in Roselawn Cemetery in Gulf Breeze. Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., prior to the service.
