Carroll Douglas “Doug” Holcomb, 62, of Pace, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2013. Doug was born in Cullman, Alabama and had lived in the Pace area since 1980. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Pensacola (main office on Jordan Street), with over 30 years of service. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran with over 9 years of service. He was a member of A.B.A.T.E. motorcycle organization of which he was a former Vice President. Doug was preceded in death by his parents Russell A. “Pete” Holcomb and Opal Virginia Sivils Holcomb; a niece, Cynthia Black, and a nephew Brian Creel. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Rebecca “Becky” L. Holcomb of Pace; two daughters, Sonia Celeste (Mark) Shelton of Pace, and Cecilia Lynn (Chris) Vance of Pace; two brother Alford Holcomb and Charles Holcomb both of Cullman, Alabama; a sister, Louise Holcomb Clark of Decatur, Alabama; five grandchildren, Austin Shelton, Brianna Shelton, Landon Vance, Blake Vance, and Haley Vance. A Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Lewis Funeral Home in Pace Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the Lewis Funeral Home, in Pace, with Laura Ward and Rick Elliott officiating. Mr. Holcomb will be taken to Holly Pond Funeral Home in Holly Pond, Alabama. There will be a visitation beginning at 1 pm on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at the Gum Pond Primitive Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be at 2 pm at the church with Elders Heath Williams, J.L. Hopper and Dan Hopper officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery.
