Charles Benton Gracey, Sr. (Coach Gracey) Charles Benton Gracey, Sr. of Milton, Florida passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at the age of 68. Benton was born January 20, 1943 to Clyde and Murl Gracey. Benton graduated from Milton High School in 1961. He continued his education at the University of Florida, Livingston State, and completed his Masters in Mathematics at the University of West Florida. He taught Geometry and coached football and track at Milton High School for 30 years. He also taught math at Pensacola State College for 15 years. Coach Gracey touched many students and athletes’ lives and will be greatly missed. Benton loved jogging, running in 5K’s, working in the yard, attending Florida Gator games, and being with his family. Benton is survived by his loving wife of almost 46 years, Margie Golden Gracey, father Clyde Gracey, brother, Rod (Janet), sister-in-law, Gayle Golden, daughter, Catherine Gracey, son, Charles Benton (Ben) Jr., all of Milton, daughter, Andrea (Mike) Bell of Jacksonville, daughter, Susan McCole (Mickey) of Pace, and his grandchildren Kayla, BreeAnn, Hannah, Taylor, Mackenzie, and his great grandson Greyson. Benton is preceded in death by his mother, Bernice Murl Gracey. A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 14, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Milton, with Dr. David Spencer officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Park in Milton. Lewis Funeral Home in Milton is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Milton.
