Chuck passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born October 13, 1946 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Hester Niemann. Chuck graduated from Milton High School in 1964 where he was remembered through the years for his outstanding basketball skills. He attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama on a basketball scholarship. After graduating from Huntington in 1968, he returned to Milton and began a thirty-five year career in the Santa Rosa County School System. He retired from the school system in June 2012. Chuck was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman. He enjoyed playing slow-pitch softball and golf for many years. He also spent many hours through the years floundering and surf-rod fishing at the beach. He is survived by his sons, Andy (Mallory) Niemann and Brandon Niemann; and a grandson, Colton Niemann. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 1, 2013 at 5p.m. at the Lewis Funeral Home Milton Chapel with Elder Wayne Blocker and Elder Hubert Smith, officiating. Family will receive friends at 4:00p.m. one hour prior to service.
