Obituary
Charles "Charlie" Kendrick Ray, age 74, of Navarre Beach, Florida, passed away on July 8, 2016. He was born to Kendrick Adolph Ray and Laverne Davis on February 22, 1942, in Jefferson County, Kentucky. He was the oldest of ten children. He served honorably in the United States Air Force for 30 years achieving the rank of Sr. Enlisted Advisor and retiring as Chief Master Sergeant. He then went on to Civil Service as Transition Assistant for close to 20 years and completed his career at the Air Force Enlisted Foundation as Director of the Teresa Village. He was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Marlene "Joyce" Ray; his brothers, Carl Ray and Donnie Ray; and his parents, Kendrick Adolph and Laverne Ray. He is survived by two daughters, Theresa (Jeff) Breunig, and Dianna (John) Middleton; grandchildren, Brian Welch, Kodi Rae (Cody) Couch, Kyle (April) Harris, Kristopher Clark and Lexi Breunig. He is also survived by his siblings, Dee (Stanley) Yancy, Sandy Vernon, Larry (Pam) Ray, Joan Sanders, Bobby (Rhonda) Ray, Terry Ray, Debbie (David) Asbell; and many loved nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at Lewis Funeral Home, Navarre Chapel. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held the following day, July 14, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, Florida with full Military Honors. Funeral procession will depart Lewis Funeral Home in Navarre at 10 a.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Air Force Enlisted Village, in memory of Charlie Ray (92 Sunset Lane, Shalimar, Florida 32579.)
