Mike and Kathie Lewis and the Lewis Funeral Home staff extends our deepest sympathy to the family of Clarence Prevatt. Mr. Prevatt was the founding father of the Independent Funeral Directors of Florida (IFDF). Lewis Funeral Homes have been a member of IFDF since its beginnings over 25 years ago. Clarence and Elaine Prevatt were supportive of Mike and Kathie during the passing of their son, Stephen. The Prevatts and the Lewis’ are great friends and enjoyed each other’s company in the many conferences they have attended. Please keep the Prevatt family and the staff of Prevatt Funeral Home in your prayers. Clarence E. Prevatt, Jr., of Tampa, Florida, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017. Formerly of Temple Terrace, he was presently the owner of the Prevatt Funeral Home in Hudson, Florida. He is survived by his loving wife thirty-three years, Elaine; and a daughter, Morgan. He graduated from C. Leon King High School, the University of South Florida in Tampa, and the Miami-Dade Mortuary Science College in Miami. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Hudson, was active on their Finance Committee, with the Knights of Columbus, and also sponsored All Soul’s Day at St. Michael's. He served as a Board Member of Hospice of Pasco and Hernando. He is a past member of the Rotary Club and the Chamber of Commerce of Temple Terrace and the Crew of Venus. He was the founding father of the Independent Funeral Directors of Florida which celebrated its 25th year this year. Clarence enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, cooking, sitting in front of a fire and of course telling stories. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 23, 2017, at the R. Lee Williams & Son Funeral Home (3530 49th Street North, St. Petersburg, Florida 33711). Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church (5225 N Himes Ave, Tampa, Florida 33614).
