Claud G. Davis Claud G. Davis of Allentown passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Robbinsville, NC on May 31, 1908. He joined the Navy in 1926, where he toured various ports in Europe for six years before returning home. His accomplishments were many; shadowing Lindberg in the English Channel, twice torpedoed on the USS Saratoga at Pearl Harbor, sailing in the Orient, and covering 100,000 miles in 30 countries, islands, and states. He served in the staff for the Commander in Chief of the U.S. Fleet on the USS Pennsylvania. He retired as a Lieutenant in 1946 and married Rebbecca Huff, who passed away in 1995. His jobs were many; from, President of Farm Bureau and helped organize the Santa Rosa County Farm Tour and Florida Farm Bureau Insurance; he was an officer of N.W. FL Cattleman’s Association; and Director of Escambia River Electric Co-op. He leaves to cherish his memories, a brother, Chester; a sister, Anna Jean, two daughters; Mary Jane and Betty Jo; three grandchildren, Barry, Laurie and Jeff; four great grandchildren, Jered, Allysia, Lauren and Garrett, one great-great grandchild, Sabrina and a large loving family and many other relatives and friends, May God bless you all. In his words, “I’ve been blessed beyond my wildest dreams,” Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Friday at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel.
