Clifton David Salter 1930- 2014 “Our Gentle Giant is now at Rest” Clifton David Salter was born in Chumuckla, Florida, March 22, 1930, and became an angel in heaven on July 30, 2014. He drove a city bus in Pensacola, Florida, before he and his father started Salter Construction Company in 1958. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. His love of family and friends was evident to all. He was someone who would help anyone in need at any time day or night. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice Kathleen Salter; father, Ernest David Salter; brother, Ernest Eugene Salter; and nephew, Larry Lamar Lane. He is survived by his wife, Dolores (Polly) Salter; daughter, Denise (Tim) Turner; sister, Elsie Lane; other children, Lisa Wilson and Blake (Eileen) Grimsley; grandchildren, Blake II (Stacey) Grimsley, Clint Orion (Brandy) Grimsley, Jill Lynn Campbell, and Katie Ann Garrison; great-grandchildren, Sydney Danielle Grimsley, Sierra Makenna Grimsley, Angeli Reanne Campbell, Rachelle Ann Partridge , Kamron Robert Grimsley, Sean Alexander Grimsley, and Baylen Breanne Grimsley; nieces and nephews, Tammy (Kimo) Kouns, Jerry Lane, Jim Lane, Cookie (J.W.) Stokes, Alice (Ric) Butler, Joyce (Woody) Watkins, Tammy (Tony) Llorens & many more who were greatly loved. Pallbearers: Billy Grimsley, Orion Grimsley, Tim Turner, Jim Lane, Waylon Stokes, and Richard Messick. Honorary Pallbearers: J.W. Stokes, Gary Wayne Lee. Many thanks to all the caretakers at Unihealth, and all the nurses and doctors at Santa Rosa Hospital. Services will be held at Lewis Funeral Home Milton Chapel, Sunday, August 3, 2014, at 3:00 p.m., with Brother Fred Rogers officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Elizabeth Chapel in Chumuckla. “We will miss you until we see you again”
