Clifton “Craig” Wyrosdick April 28, 1960 – February 6, 2019 Clifton “Craig” Wyrosdick, 58, of Pace, Florida, crossed the finish line of his final race Wednesday, February 6, 2019. Instead of a medal, he received a crown. Craig fought the good fight, he finished the race and he always kept the faith. Craig was born at McDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida to Jearl and Sandy Wyrosdick. He grew up in Pace where he attended Pace Elementary, Pace Middle School and Pace High School. He graduated Valedictorian from Pace High School in 1978 and went on to earn an Associates of Science degree from what was then, Pensacola Junior College, a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Florida State University and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Florida. Craig completed his training with a Family Practice Residency in Tallahassee, Florida. Just prior to starting medical school, Craig married his high school sweetheart, Sandra. Together they returned to Pace where Craig served the community he called home as a Family Practice Doctor. He loved helping people and practicing medicine gave him the perfect opportunity to do this. Craig was in private practice for ten years and then he went to work at the VA Clinic in Pensacola and worked serving our country’s veterans for 9 years. He returned to private practice for a short time before receiving the diagnosis of dementia in 2015. Craig’s rigorous schedule did not allow him to formally volunteer with organizations, but he spoke to countless students at Career Days and to many other groups in the community when asked, went on many mission trips with his College Kids and was always willing to help wherever there was a need. Craig loved medicine, but more than medicine, he loved his two boys, Parker and Taylor. Everything he did, he did with his family first and foremost in his mind. His boys were his heart and they cannot begin to imagine how much he loved them. Craig was a Sunday School teacher for 14 years for college students in the community. He was an ordained Southern Baptist Deacon and he enjoyed singing in the choir. Craig was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Lynn Wyrosdick; his paternal grandparents and his maternal grandparents. Craig is survived by his adoring wife of 36 years, Sandra; his sons, Parker Wyrosdick of Austin, Texas, and Taylor Wyrosdick of Pensacola, Florida; his parents, Jearl and Sandy Wyrosdick of Pace, Florida; his brothers, Tim (Vanessa) Wyrosdick and Paul (Rhonda) Wyrosdick, both of Pace, Florida; and his brothers-in-law, Mark (Yvette) Cross of Pensacola, Florida and Tony (Tonya) Cross of Milton, Florida. Craig is also survived by uncles and aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and many friends who will all miss him tremendously. Everyone who knew Craig loved him, his humility and kindness were unmatched on this earth. We love you and we will miss you forever, but we will see you again. Visitation will be held beginning at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 10, 2019, at Wallace Baptist Church. A Celebration of His Life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 11, 2019, at Wallace Baptist Church. Lewis Funeral Home in Pace has been entrusted with arrangements.
