Clinton Stokes Obituary

Clinton Leroy Stokes, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on January 10, 2018, after a lengthy illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 24, 1933, in Harold, Florida, but spent most of his adult life in the Cantonment/Pensacola area. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Wyoma; and his daughters, Josie Stokes (Anthony), Kim Perritt (Mike) and Jackie Webb (Danny). He is also survived by five grandchildren, Jenna (Andrew), Kristy (Daniel), Mika, Jay and Clint (Junieth); three great-granddaughters, Lexi, Livi and Adri; sister, Jeanette Moody; brother-in-law, Denver Bodie (Mary); sister-in-law, Fairy Graham; sister-in-law, Virginia Betz; as well as, his nieces, nephews and extended family members. Clinton was an Army veteran who was awarded the Purple Heart during the Korean War. After serving three years in the Army he was employed by the Monsanto Corporation for 32 years and during this time he was an active member of the Hadji Shrine Temple and was involved in numerous Shrine fund raising functions. He loved to cook and one of his favorite things was to have family and friends over for a cookout where everyone enjoyed his expertise with the grill. He also loved to garden and was an avid fisherman. We loved him very much and he will be missed. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Lewis Funeral Home, Pace Chapel (4777 West Spencerfield Road, Pace, Florida 32571), with Reverend Cheyenne Bodie conducting the service. Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., prior to the service. The Family wishes to thank the Staff of Covenant Care located at West Florida Hospital for the loving care provided to Clinton and his entire family during this difficult time.
