Dannie E Guernsey Bowman 1924 - 2015 Dannie Elsie Guernsey Bowman, 90, of Pace, FL, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, to be with her Lord in Heaven after a short illness. She was born on October 29, and lived near her birthplace on Guernsey Road in Pace. She attended Wallace School, Pace Elementary School and Pensacola High School. Dannie is preceded in death by her parents, Charles H Guernsey and Lola L Beasley Guernsey; by her brothers, sisters and their spouses: Ailyne L Nelson and Mildred Bugioli (Joe), Cleveland F Guernsey (Mildred) and Clinton C Guernsey (Jean); and by her special grandson, Jeremy D Bowman. She was a Navy WWII bride, and a homemaker until her late 30's when she was talked into taking a "temporary" election-year job at the County Elections Office. Dannie retired as the Chief Deputy Supervisor of Elections of Santa Rosa County, Florida after 30 years. She is a past member of the Pace Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, the Pace-Pea Ridge Home Demonstration Club and a Cub Scout leader. She wrote the "Pace Paragraphs" which provided the county the local news from Pace in the Milton (Santa Rosa) Press-Gazette for many years. Dannie also assisted the community in determining the need for the Pace Water System. She was a founding member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She was a talented musician and played the accordion, piano, and organ. She played with her father, Charles H Guernsey, who played the violin, at many Baptist churches, family gatherings, Fire Department's July 4th Pace Day Parades, weddings and other events. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, serving her church and spoiling her six grandchildren. She is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, Robert L Bowman; three sons, Robert John, Chuck (Linda), Carl (Debi) all of Pace, FL; sister-in-laws, Kathryn Guernsey of Pensacola, FL., Doretta Baulac of Kathleen, FL, and Louise Bowman of St Petersburg, FL.; and brother-in-law, Jack Bowman (Joan) of Crenshaw, MS. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kevin Bowman (Amy Lynn) of La Crescenta CA, Carol Russell (Mike) of Fairview NC, Heather Bowman of Atlanta GA, Amy Crossan (Bryan) of Charlotte NC and Leslie Coleman (Colin) of Milton FL; great-grandchildren Austin and Kayla Bowman, Amelia and Winston Russell, Holden Crossan, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Debbie Munoz, Shirley Page (Granny Nannies), Linda Kennedy and Covenant Hospice for their wonderful care. Pallbearers will be Kevin Bowman, Mike Russell, Colin Coleman, Billy Cleary, Ronnie Guernsey and Elwyn (Ed) Guernsey. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ted House, Danny Jones, Tim Lindsay and Jason Kimbrell. Celebration of Life Services: Visitation will be Friday, March 6, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel at 4777 W Spencer Field Road, Pace. Funeral services will be at same location at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015. Rev Felix Munoz of Fellowship Baptist Church, Pace and Rev H. H. Strickland will officiate. Burial will be at Serenity Gardens, Milton following the service. In lieu of flowers make contributions to Fellowship Baptist Church Building Fund 5223 Highway 90 Pace, FL 32571
