Dennis Michael Mindermann Sr., 65, of Milton, Florida, known to many as “Gunny”, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2019, following a year long battle with cancer, with his best friend and loving wife by his side. Born November 19, 1953, in Covington Kentucky, he was the son of the late George L. Mindermann and Mary Taylor of Cincinnati, Ohio. Dennis proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 21 years and was a Veteran of both the Vietnam and Gulf War. While serving in support of his country this led him to many different duty stations, his fondest memories of time spent as a Marine was as a CH-46 Crew Chief at Marine Corps Base Hawaii Kaneohe Bay. Following his Honorable Discharge from the Marine Corps in 1992, Dennis joined the ranks of Boeing where he continued to use his military knowledge in support of the V-22 Osprey. Dennis retired from Boeing after 24 years. Dennis loved his family, friends, and his four bulldogs which he spoiled daily. He enjoyed spending time outside maintaining his lawn, traveling and relaxing on any of the Hawaiian Islands which he visited often. He is survived by the love of his life, Brenda Mindermann of Milton, Fl; his four Bulldogs, Bo, Scout, Duchess and Duke; his five children, Dennis Mindermann Jr (Bunny), Alan Riddle Sr. (Heather), Patrick Mindermann, Wayne Riddle (Danielle) and Stacey Fitzgerald; eight grandchildren, Madison Mindermann, Madalynn Riddle, Joslyn Riddle, AJ Riddle, Frankie Mindermann, Mia Riddle, Gabriella Mindermann and Amelia Mindermann; and sister, Dottie Mindermann. Dennis will be interred at Barrancas National Cemetery, located aboard Pensacola Naval Air Station, Pensacola, FL. A viewing will be held 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., Sunday, November 3, 2019, at Lewis Funeral home in Milton, Florida. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 4, 2019, at Barrancas National Cemetery aboard NAS Pensacola. Please meet the family at 11:00 a.m., at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel. We will leave the funeral home parking lot promptly at 11:30 a.m., to travel in procession to the base.
