Mrs. Dixie Louise Ludlam Wolfe, age 85, of Milton, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011, in a local nursing home after a lengthy battle with diabetes, heart trouble and essential tremors. Dixie was born September 27, 1925, in Eufala, Alabama to Richard H. and Lizzie May (Close) Ludlam. She married Heman Trammel "Shorty" Wolfe in Eustis, Florida, January 19, 1944 while he was stationed at NAS Deland. They moved back to the Milton area after he was released from the Navy in 1947. She is a 1943 graduate of Eustis High School. Over the years, she worked for various local businesses in the area as Secretary/Bookkeeper, including Serenity Gardens, Taylor Realty, and Century 21. She was a member of the Milton Community of Christ Church. Mrs. Wolfe was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brother, Richard H. Ludlam, Jr.; her sisters, Olessa Hay, Loretto Safer, and Dorothy Cannon. A widow since 1990, she is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Sandra Locklin Wolfe of Milton; two granddaughters, and their husbands, Kay and Keith Moore of Milton, Karen and Jeff Ward of Pensacola; four great grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jenny, Joel, and Jesse Ward, and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind the domino girls, Ethel Henderson, Myrtle Luke, and Pauline Wolfe. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am at the Lewis Funeral Home Milton Chapel, Wednesday, August 3, 2011 with Wayne Blocker and Leslie Kelly officiating. Burial will follow in the Serenity Garden Cemetery with Lewis Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at the Lewis Funeral Home Milton Chapel. Active pallbearers will be Keith Moore, Jeff Ward, Jeffrey Ward, Jr., Radford Locklin, Jr., Donnie Henderson, and Jerry Henderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Helms, Hugh Bates, Tom Barnes, Jim McDaniel, Bill Voss, Ted Pospiech, David Barnes, Mahlon McLaughlin, Rex McDonald, and Roy Wolfe. The family would like to express their thanks for the excellent care she received from the healthcare staff at Uni-Health PAC of Milton, Dr. Janet Lewis, and Covenant Hospice.
