Doris Henderson Obituary

Doris Vivian Henderson, 85, of Milton and Pensacola, and formerly of Holley, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2015. Mrs. Henderson was born in Hahira, Georgia. She was formerly a member of Olive Baptist Church in Pensacola and recently became a member of Pine Terrace Baptist Church in Milton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Huron D. Henderson, Jr.; her parents, Zeno and Hattie (Bass) Hall; two brothers, Walter and Edward Hall; two sisters, Jimmie Lou Carter, and Carolyn McDowell; and two infant sisters. Mrs. Henderson is survived by her son, David (Gail) Henderson; her daughter, Vivian (Wallace) Harris; a sister, Willa Mae Purvis; two grandsons, Norman and Brian (Sondra) Harris; two granddaughters, Valarie (Brian) Hullett and Amanda Henderson; and eight great grandchildren and numerous friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, January 9, 2015 at the Lewis Funeral Home in Milton, with Dr. Mike Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow in the Barrancas National Cemetery with Lewis Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 am on Friday, January 9, 2015, prior to services. The family wishes to express their heartfelt Thanks to the Staff of Forsythe House in Milton and Regency Hospice of Pensacola. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Pine Terrace Baptist Church Building Fund or a charity of your choice. Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
