Dr. James Trimble

James William "Bill" Trimble was born December 20, 1925 in Haynesville, Louisiana to Jonas Henry and Verdi Lee Trimble. He was the second of their five children. Bill began preaching when he was seventeen years old and was ordained to the ministry one year later at the First Baptist Church of Rodessa, Texas. After graduating from high school that same year, he entered Louisiana College, the school founded and supported by the Louisiana Baptist Convention, SBC. There he met his future wife, Vivian Rose Paulk and they were married at the tender age of nineteen. Following his graduation, Bill and Vivian moved to New Orleans for him to attend the Baptist Seminary. He graduated with a Master's Degree and completed all the course work for a Doctorate in Theology. Several years later he returned to New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and earned a Doctorate of Ministry degree. After graduation from seminary, Bill pastored several churches in Louisiana. In 1960 he and his wife, Vivian, felt called into the ministry of foreign missions and were appointed by the International Mission Board to serve in Lebanon. During the next 30 years, they ministered not only in Lebanon, but also in Lybia, Egypt, Greece and Cyprus with short terms spent in Jordan and Syria. In 1990 they retired and returned to the United States, choosing to live in Milton, Florida to be near their daughter, Becky Young. Bill is survived by one sibling, Willene Festervan, three children, Jerree (Rob) Sanders, Becky (Bruce) Young, and Paul (Melanee) Trimble, eight grandchildren, Nathan (Carrie) Young, Daniel Young, Joanna (Destin) Echols, Susan White, John White, Andrew Trimble, Philip Trimble, and Rachel Trimble, and two great-grandchildren, Cate Young and Abbie Young. Until the very end of his life, Bill was an inspiration to everyone he met and never missed an opportunity to witness for his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He will be greatly missed. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 9, 2016, at First Baptist Church, Milton, Florida, with Dr. David W. Spencer, and Rev.
