Earl E. Bartholomew 1938-2012 Earl E. Bartholomew, 73, of Milton, Florida, died Tuesday July 17, 2012. He was born December 8, 1938 in Sharon, Pennsylvania. He graduated Hartford High School of Hartford, Ohio in 1956 and joined the United States Navy where he served six years. He then joined the United States Marine Corp where he was commissioned as a Sergeant with the 5th Communication Battalion serving in country in Vietnam from 1965 to 1966. He married his wife, the former Beyrl Jean Robinson of Cortland, Ohio in 1968 and they had two daughters, Catherine Lynn of New Orleans, Louisiana and Donna Jean Bartholomew Fickes of Lubbock, Texas. He retired from General Motors Corporation in Lordstown, Ohio after thirty-one (31) years of service and moved with his wife to Florida. He belonged to the United States Power Squadron and was the commander of the Peace River Power Squadron from 2006-2007. He later joined the Fort Myers Power Squadron as a past Commander. In addition to his wife and daughters, he leaves behind two brothers, Bill Bartholomew of Critersville, Ohio and Dale Likens of Forsyth, Georgia; two sisters, Shirley Stocz of Cortland, Ohio and Alberta Griffin Morales of Warren, Ohio; and a grandson, Zachary Fickes of Lubbock, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Sylvia Hibler Bartholomew and three brothers, the Reverend James E. Bartholomew, Gene Likens, and Al Likens. A military honors memorial service will be held at Lewis Funeral Home in Milton, Florida on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 11 A.M. with a brief visitation preceding the service at 10:30 A.M. . Burial will be at sea. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Disabled Veterans of Pensacola in the name of Earl E.
