Edward Bryan Von Axelson went home on Good Friday, April 18, 2014 to be with his Lord and Savior. The eldest of eight, Eddie was born December 12, 1932 in Munson where he was raised and resided until his senior years when he felt the need to relocate to the Milton area due to his declining health. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Bryan Sr. and Ruby Von Axelson; brother, Fred Von Axelson; sister, Virginia Lundy; nephew, Fred Bo Von Axelson and an infant niece. Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Louise Von Axelson; son, Steve Edward Von Axelson; and a stepson, Donnie Skipper. He also leaves behind his devoted brothers and sisters; Oscar Von Axelson and Gloria, Albert Bryan, Jr."Sonny" Von Axelson and Codylene, Helen Riley, Annie Mearl Dyal and Don, Mable Turman and Rodney, and sister-in-law, Dee Von Axelson. Eddie also leaves to cherish his memory 16 nieces and nephews along with a host of great nieces and nephews as well as great-great nieces and nephews and countless cousins and other family. Eddie an avid sports fan was drafted into the Army during the Korean Conflict. Stationed in Germany he was selected to participate on the base's baseball team. Eddie was able to travel Europe and play the game he loved. He also coached his base's basketball team. He then returned home to Von Axelson Road in Munson and resumed his 41-year career with the Florida Division of Forestry servicing in numerous capacities, all which provided care for his beloved Blackwater Forest. Eddie was the first president of the Munson Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Blackwater Baptist Church and enjoyed his retired years following area high school sports especially the Central Jaguars. Eddie was also a devoted fan of the Florida Gators and New York Yankees. Funeral services with military honors will be held at 3PM Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Lewis Funeral Home Milton Chapel with Rev. Alton Nixon, officiating. Burial will be in Serenity Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8PM Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be close friends and coworkers of Eddie's. The family of Eddie wishes to express their appreciation to special friends Duwood and Alice Mulford for their assistance, love and devotion to caring for Eddie. Also to the staff of Emerald Coast Hospice and Santa Rosa Convalescent Center.
