William Van Stewart, 87 years old, passed from this life on the 18th of October, 2019. William is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George D. Stewart of Evergreen, Alabama, deceased. He is the 7th of 8 children as follows: Margaret Tyndall (Harvey) both deceased, Margie Holley (Henry) both deceased, Carolyn Johnston (Joe) both deceased, Nellie Grace (Henry) both deceased, George Stewart (Olene) both deceased, Elizabeth Ryals (Elvin, deceased), and Clarence Stewart (Jeaneen). William served in the US Navy during the Korean War for 5 years (1952-1957). He retired from American Cyanamid in 1990. Elder William Stewart served as pastor of Hopewell Church and Antioch Church, Evergreen, Alabama, for approximately 40 years and pastored Pleasant Hill Church, in Graceville, Florida for many years. He especially loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. William is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Emily A. Stewart, of Milton, Florida; four children, Dan Stewart (Ava), Jerry Stewart (Nancy), Rodney Stewart, and Sherry Smith (Greg); nine grandchildren, Shena Simmons (Ryan), Gracie Stewart, Brock Stewart (Tiffany), Lauren Stewart, Jarrod Stewart, Katie Atwater (Brad), Jennifer Smith, Stacy Diamond (Matt), and Ben Smith (Hannah); nine great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and relatives. Services celebrating the life of Elder William V. Stewart, will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, October 21, 2019, at Hopewell Primitive Baptist Church. Burial will follow services in Hopewell Primitive Baptist Church cemetery, with Lewis Funeral Home of Milton directing. Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m., at the church, prior to the funeral service
