Elrie Hazelwood Obituary

Elrie Hazelwood, Jr., 86, of Milton, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at his home. Elrie was born September 11, 1929, in Lynchburg, Tennessee. He reached the rank of Eagle Scout while in high school. He proudly served in the US Navy for 30 years; and served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mille Hazelwood; father, Elrie Hazelwood, Sr.; brother, Jerry Hazelwood; sister, Nell Hazelwood Farrar; and his first wife, Andre M. Hazelwood. Elrie is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Doris Thames Hazelwood; four children, Fritz (Darlene) Hazelwood, Sylvia (Mark) Reuschel, Tami H. Wareham, and Karl Hazelwood; two step-children, Linda T. Vines and Brenda Gavin; eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; and one brother, Reagor Hazelwood, of Mulvane, Kansas. Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon, Friday, September 9, 2016, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel. Burial will follow services in the Bagdad Cemetery. Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., prior to the service. The Hazelwood family gives special thanks to Carmon Carroll and Emerald Coast Hospice for all of their love and support during this difficult time.
