Elton Bush

Elton Jefferson Bush of Milton, Florida passed away on Friday, June 24, 2011 at the Covenant Hospice House. Mr. Bush was born in Dothan, Alabama on August 23, 1923 to the late Clarence Rudolph Bush and the late Lulu Singleton Bush. He attended J.M.Tate High School where he played football from 1941-1945. He graduated from Tate in 1945. Mr. Bush was a construction electrician, a member of IBEW Local 1579 in Augusta, Georgia for over 56 years. During his career, Mr. Bush was the foreman for the construction of several nuclear plants including the Savannah River Project. In 1995, Mr. Bush became an ordained Baptist Deacon. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Milton, FL and the Fisher-Brown Sunday School Class. Mr. Bush was married to the late Edith Rost Bush for over 43 years. To that union was born three children: Sharon Bankester, Cathy Rowland, and Mark Bush. In 1991, Elton married his childhood sweetheart, Marie Bowman Davis. They were married for twenty years. He was preceded in death by his sister, Camilla Bush Scoffield and a brother, Clarence Rudolph Bush, Jr.. Mr. Bush is survived by his children, Sharon Bankester (Charles), Cathy Rowland (Don), Mark Bush (Sandra), and a step-daughter, Farica King (Terry); thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; a sister, Janie Davis, a brother, Andress (Bob) Bush, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 28th from 6-8 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home in Milton, Florida. Funeral services will be held at the Lewis Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, June 29th at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Greg Kell, Dr. David Spencer, and Reverend James Copeland officiating. Burial will follow at Serenity Gardens.
