Ernest Thompson Obituary

Ernest Glenn Thompson, age 80 of Munson, FL passed away on Monday, February 27, 2012 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Santa Rosa County. He was the son of the late Ernest and Iva Thompson. He was a retired employee of the Florida Gas and Transmission Co., an avid fisherman and hunter, and a member of the Valley Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by brothers, C.W. and Winfred Thompson; and a sister, Ruby Lee Cabaniss. Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean Thompson of Munson; three daughters, Pat (Roger) Hardy of Munson, Pam (Randy) Cohron of Milton, and Tam (Dale) Strickland of McLellan; 7 grandchildren, Rod (Allison) Hardy, Robert (Lyndi) Hardy, Robyn (Derek) Enfinger, Hiedi and Colby Cohron, and Barrett and Kayley Strickland; 2 great grandchildren, Drew Gunter and Tyler Hardy; a niece, Joan Nelson; 2 nephews, Westel and Ricky Cabaniss; and many good friends. Special thanks to: Covenant Hospice, 6479 Caroline Street, Milton, FL, Dr. David Smith, Dr. Terek Eldaway and the Sacred Heart Cancer Center. Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Friday, March 2, 2012 at Lewis Funeral Home Milton Chapel with Rev. Alton Nixon and Ed Carrington, officiating. Burial to follow at Stump Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the funeral home. Active pallbearers: Harold Thompson, Carlton Pitts, Jack Paulk, Duwood Mulford, Woodrow Pitts, Westel and Ricky Cabaniss, and Kevin Nelson. Honorary Pallbearers: Gene Fleming, Billy Fuller, Gary Cabaniss, Raymond Morris, Richard Hardy and Andy Peaden.
