Evelyn Addison Obituary

Evelyn Ruth Addison was born on May 18, 1930, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and passed away on October 13, 2011 in Pensacola, Florida. Although Evelyn was born in Oklahoma, she lived the majority of her childhood, and early adulthood in the Mobile County area of Alabama. She met her husband, Bill Addison in Norfolk, Virginia, and spent many years as a Navy wife, moving her family from place to place. They finally settled in the Maryland area after his retirement from the Navy. Sometime after the death of her husband, she relocated to Milton, Florida to be near her sister. Evelyn was a lover of the beauty of nature. She enjoyed bird watching, and gardening. While her husband was alive, they were involved in Square Dancing. He was a Square Dance Caller and Teacher, and she helped by organizing, collecting the dues, and teaching the Square Dance moves. She was very much involved in pursuing the enjoyment of her relationship with Jesus Christ. She often went to the Christian Conferences with her bible study group, while she was in Maryland. She was active, and enjoyed excellent health for the majority of her life. After she moved to the Florida coast, she spent much of her time with her son, John Addison, who lived with her. They were very supportive of each other. Her husband, Bill Addison, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Rose Marie Murphy, and sons, John Addison of Milton, Florida and Michael Addison of Gambrills, Maryland, grandchildren, Matthew and Daniel Holland of Maryland, and four great-grandchildren, Maggie, Damien, Kamilla and Jonah Holland, as well as her brother, Dale Lewis of Creola, Alabama. Funeral services will be held at Lewis Funeral Home in Milton, Florida on October 18, 2011 at 7 PM, with visitation and viewing for family at 5 PM, and for friends at 6 PM. She will then be sent to Maryland and laid to rest at the Cheltenham Maryland State Cemetery in Cheltenham, Maryland for burial at a later date. She was truly one of a kind, and the mold was absolutely broken when the Lord made her. The members of her family and all who knew her will sorely miss her.
