Ezra McLean

Ezra D. McLean, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016. Ezra was born January 10, 1925, in Laurel Hill, Florida, to Hector Jefferson and Amanda Elizabeth (Thomas) McLean. Ezra, and his best buddy, Billy McClellan, enlisted in the Army Air Corps before they graduated high school. They both were fighter pilots and remained life-long friends. Ezra flew the P51 Mustang during WWII. Ezra retired as 2nd Lieutenant. After the war, Ezra gave flying lessons at the Milton T Field, and was a Kirby Salesman. Ezra was a devoted son and caregiver of his mother, checking on her many times throughout the day. He will always be remembered as a favorite uncle and as the family “Santa Claus.” One of his favorite things in life was meeting with the guys coffee group at McDonalds every morning. Ezra is preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents, Charles Agustus and Mary Ann (Smith) Thomas, and Ezra D. and Matilda Alice (Rowell) McClean. He is survived by his siblings, Barbara Ann Cronic of Ooltewah, Tennessee; Clifford Carlton McLean, Sr.; of Holt, Florida; Maxine Hembree of Gainesville, Florida; and Brenda Faye Stone of Arlington, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, and good friends. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel. Burial will follow services at Serenity Gardens Cemetery in Milton. Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in his name to First Baptist Church of Milton (First Baptist Church, 6797 Caroline Street, Milton, Florida 32570) or the charity of your choice.
