Garland Weathersbee

Garland E. Weathersbee 1927-2011 Garland E. "Boats" Weathersbee/BMC, USN Ret. passed away on July 7, 2011. He was born to George and Lily Weathersbee on March 3, 1927 in Robersonville, N.C. He joined the Navy in 1943. He served in WWII and the Korean Conflict. After 30 years, he retired and served as a Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Deputy. He retired in 1992 as a Major. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Peggy; children, Angela Carr, William (Lynn) Hart, Ramona Olsen (Larry Owens), Robert (Stacey) Weathersbee, and Miles Carr who was loved like a son; grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Rios, Amanda Carr, Racheal and John Hart, Adam (Brittany Reaves)and Kaity Olsen, Drew, Cole and Lily Weathersbee; great-grandchildren, Eric Nelson and Brittin Long; sisters-in-law, Linda and Jean Hodges; brother -in-law- Robert N. Hodges; and many nieces, nephews, and family friends. He loved travelling and spending quality time with his family. He enjoyed science and history and always supported his children and grandchildren in their educational pursuits. The services will be held on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at 2pm at Lewis Funeral Home Milton Chapel with Rev. Charlie Elliott, officiating. Family will receive friends from 5pm-7pm on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Lewis Funeral Home Milton Chapel. Lewis Funeral Home will be handling arrangements.
