George Carroll Phillips "Phil" 1929-2013 George Carroll Phillips, age 83 of Milton, FL passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013. Carroll Phillips was born and raised in Talladega, Alabama. Roll Tide! He was the only child born to George Bartley and Janie Denton Phillips. He was always a hard working guy. He served his country in the U.S. Army fighting in the Korean Conflict. Carroll met the love of his life, Betty Welch and they had a blessed marriage for 58 years. He loved to travel, his favorite trips being, The Blue Ridge Mountains and the Black Hills of South Dakota. He was an amazing gardener, known for his roses and native azaleas. Phil loved his civil service job and his co-workers at Eglin Air Force Base. He considered the people he worked with as his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest son, Buster Phillips. He will be loved forever and missed by his wife, Betty; his children, Teresa (Mike) Murphy, Robert (Sukki) Phillips, Bart Phillips and Pam Phillips; his grandchildren, Chad and Jason Phillips, Megan Corcoran, Christopher and Melissa Tripodi, David, Paul and Mary Kate Murphy; and his great grandchildren, Hayden Tripodi, Kennon Lee, Sophia Kennedy and Christopher Phillips. A graveside service will be held at 1PM Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Bayview Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Mike Poston, officiating. Family will receive friends from 11AM to 12PM at the Lewis Funeral Home Milton Chapel.
