George Walker Obituary

George Melvin Walker, 89, of Pace Florida, went home to his heavenly home on Friday, March 9, 2018. Mr. Walker was born January 8, 1929, in Chilton County, Alabama. He served 26 years in the Air Force and retired as Chief Master Sergeant. Dad died peacefully at home after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Mr. Walker leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Margaret Walker; four children, Maureen Gallop, Rita Beaton, Marty DeVaughn and George Melvin Walker, Jr. The family would like to recognize some special nurses, aides and caregivers, who dedicated themselves to his loving care. We are so thankful to Dana and Maria of Regency Hospice. Mr. Walker was blessed to have four special caregivers, Gloria Perez, Patty Berry, Sherry DeCrow and Brandy Jensen. We are grateful for their love, kindness and dedication to his care. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 12, 2018, at Lewis Funeral Home, Pace Chapel. Visitation will be held 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., prior to the service. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at Martin Memorial Cemetery in Clanton, Alabama. Mr. Walker’s wish was, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to Potters Children’s Home. This charity was very dear to his heart. He was a loyal supporter for many years. His devotion to this home was due to finding himself an orphan at a young age.
