Gertrude Elliott Wolfe went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, February 6, 2015. She was born in Santa Rosa County on January 2, 1921, to Jake and Leacy (Ates) Elliott and became a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Milton, and the Fidelis Sunday School Class. Her life was a testimony to her love for God. Gertrude was a graduate of Milton High School, Pensacola Junior College, and attended the University of West Florida. Her employment history included secretary to Attorney T. Franklin West, and secretary for the U.S Forestry/Agriculture Commission where she assisted in the procurement of property that is now Eglin Air Force Base. After 37 ½ years with the Santa Rosa County School Board, she retired as an Administrative Personnel Assistant. She was an active member of the PTA during her children’s education. Gertrude was a 63 year member of the Milton Chapter of the Eastern Star and a founding member of the Santa Rosa County Federal Credit Union. She was a member of the local chapter of the American Cancer Society, Pilot Club, Educational Secretaries Association, and the Santa Rosa Retired Educators. Gertrude was preceded in death by her loving husband, Woodrow Wolfe; daughter, Rebecca Wolfe Fisher; grandson, Robert (Bob) Hanna; and was the last surviving sibling of the Jake Elliott family. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Ella Martin, Estelle Wallace, Willie Mae Epperson, Palace Elliott, and Frances Foster; and brothers Maxwell Elliott, Jakie Elliott, Jimmie Elliott, Ates Elliott and Troy Elliott. Gertrude is survived by her children, Elaine (Haywood) Hanna and David (Vicki) Wolfe; grandchildren, Anita (Robert) Roberts, Becky (Larry) Paul; step-grandchildren, Trent (Karissa) Stewart and Brock (Lisa) Stewart; great-grandchildren, Leacy and Lydia Paul, Savannah Roberts, Seth and Sam Stewart; and leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews. Special thanks are extended to the Forsyth House and its loving staff. Also, a sincere thanks to Dr. George Antonious, Dr. Harish Malhotra and Regency Hospice. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 p.m., with services at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at the Bamberg Chapel, First Baptist Church of Milton, with Dr. David Spencer officiating. Interment will follow at the Milton Cemetery.
