Gilbert Mitchell Abare, 83, of Milton passed away on Friday, May 8, 2015. He was born July 26, 1931, in Plattsburg, New York, to Mitchell and Ethel (Dignard) Abare. He was in the U.S. Army and served in the Koren War. He is survived by his wife, Margaret J. (Lawliss) Abare; three daughters, Jill Kirk, Susan McKinley and Michelle Parrish; grandchildren, Dayna Parrish Anderson, Jessica and Travis Nelson, Matthew and Desiree Kirk, Adam Parrish, and Christin McKinley; great-grandchildren, Devon Wendell, Devin Wendell, Tyler McKinley, Isaac Kirk, Jackson Kirk, K’yana Dixion and Kalani Dixion. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon, on Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel, with Rev. Mike Poston officiating. Burial will follow in the Barrancas National Cemetery with Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel directing. Family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, May 14, 2015, prior to services.Obituary
