Gladys Driggers Peer, 99, of Pensacola, passed away Monday, October 24, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family. Gladys was born October 9, 1917, in Albertville, Alabama. She was of the Methodist faith. Gladys was an avid gardener and she loved sharing her vegetables, canning and baking with her family and friends; her specialties were her fig preserves and bourbon laced fruit cakes. A week before she passed away she was planting onions and her fall garden was ready for the season! She was a great southern belle and her passion in life was to love and take care of others; and “going to Biloxi.” She is predeceased by her husbands, Al Driggers and Allen Peer; parents, Rev. Frank Bilbro and Gladys LaVerne Bilbro; three brothers, Bubba Bilbro, Robert Bilbro, and Billy Bilbro; and two sisters, Alma McMahon and Betty Everette. Gladys is survived by her son, Jerry Driggers of Milton; her daughter, Linda Driggers Paul (Jim Montgomery) of Daytona Beach; two grandchildren, David Hasse and Joleene Downs; and three great-grandchildren, Bradley Hasse, Reanna Hasse and Reagan Hasse. She is also leaves to cherish her memory, two special cousins, Rhona Early and Faith Bilbro; and three very special friends, Jim Young, Jerry Womack and Pat Summers. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 28, 2016, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel. Visitation will be held 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Volusia/Flagler Counties (101 N. Woodland Avenue, Suite 400, DeLand Florida 32720; or online at www.bgcvfc.org); or to Covenant Hospice of Pensacola (5041 North 12th Avenue, Pensacola, Florida 32504).
