Gladys Louise (Garrett) Phillips, 87, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, January 15, 2015. She was born October 27, 1927 in Berrydale, Florida and lived in that community her whole life. She attended Fidelis School and worked for a time as a Nurse’s Aide at Jay Hospital. She is remembered for her kindness and sweet spirit to all she met as well as her sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Edward Wilson Phillips; and her parents, Trudy Isabelle and James Louis Guyette. She is survived by her sister, Jewel Christian of Bagdad, Florida; and her four children, Margaret Phillips, Edward (Francis) Phillips, Jr., Bobby (Martha) Phillips, and Larnette Phillips; five grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at Lewis Funeral Home, in Milton, Florida. Visitation for family and friends will be held an hour prior to the service, from 1:00 p.m. till 2:00 p.m.
