Glenda Nelson Milton, Florida Obituary

Glenda Nelson

Glenda Faye Hardy Nelson left her earthly home on Thursday, October 18, 2018, following a brief illness. She was preceded in death and reunited with her infant daughter; son, Fred “Bo” Von Axelson; parents, EJ and Arnette Hardy; and a nephew, Aubrey Cooley. The eldest of four children, Glenda was born on March 16, 1947, to EJ and Arnette Hardy and was a lifelong resident of the Springhill Community. She touched many lives during her years as a school bus driver for students living in the north end of Santa Rosa County. Glenda was affectionately known as “Maw Maw” and loved the students as if they were her own children. She enjoyed spending time with her family, as well as, being outdoors. Glenda acquired the love of cooking from her mama and enjoyed preparing meals for her family. In her younger years, she was actively involved in the lives of her nieces and nephews and often attended school functions with them. In her recent years, she showered her great nieces and nephews with love and attention, and enjoyed giving them a goody bag as they left after each visit. Glenda had a kind and giving heart and will be missed by many. Left to cherish her memory, includes her husband of 39 years, John “Mallory” Nelson; daughters, Maggie (Troy) Blankenship and Kristi Nelson; brothers, Roger (Pat) Hardy and Richard (Diane) Hardy; her sister Beverly (Jack) Cooley; nieces and nephews, Bridgette (David) Howard, Rod (Alison) Hardy, Ryan (Miriam) Hardy, Robbi (Lyndi) Hardy, Robyn (Derek) Enfinger; three grandchildren; and several great nieces and great nephews. Visitation will be held at the Lewis Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, October 22, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow with Brother Bill Thompson officiating. Glenda will be laid to rest alongside her children at Springhill Assembly of God Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her nephews Rod Hardy, Ryan Hardy, Robbi Hardy, Drew Gunter, David Howard and Derek Enfinger.
