Gloria Cockerham

Gloria E. Cockerham, age 78, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, formerly, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, died peacefully on December 7, 2017, at home in Mary Esther, Florida, with her family by her side after a brief struggle with cancer. Gloria graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1956, and later, continued her scholastic pursuits, taking art classes at Housatonic CC. She was an active member of St Anthony's Catholic Church in Ft Lauderdale. A devout Catholic, Gloria was exceptionally generous with her time, talents and treasure. She regularly donated to several charities including, St Jude Children’s Hospital, Catholic Charities, and her special cause, Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock/Team Brady Bukowski. Gloria was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bingo, seeing shows, dining out and shopping, but most of all, she loved her family and friends and was proud of their accomplishments, never missing an opportunity to tell anyone who would listen. Gloria is predeceased by her beloved husband, Arthur Cockerham; daughter, Lisa; son, Mark; parents, Stephen and Lucille Kubicko; brother, Stephen; and three sisters, Roberta, Joan and Laurie Ann. Gloria leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sister, Judy; two sons, Michael and Kenneth; her grandchildren, Michael, Mark, Angelica, Nicholas and Diana; nieces and nephews; as well as, her extended family and very special friends. Gloria touched so many lives and will be greatly missed, but her legacy of generosity, caring and love will endure in all of us. The Funeral Mass will be held at 12 noon, Friday, March 2, 2018, at St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Bridgeport; interment will immediately follow the Mass in Lawncroft Cemetery in Black Rock. Lewis Funeral Home, Navarre, Florida, has been entrusted with arrangements.
