Gloria Hicks

Gloria Claudine Hicks, 82, of Milton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her beloved family on Thursday, August 11, 2016. Gloria was born in McLellan, Florida, in 1933; and graduated from Munson High School in 1952. She spent her career as a dedicated civil servant at Naval Air Station Whiting Field and retired as a safety manager in 1998. Gloria was an active member of the McLellan Church of Christ with her husband, Bill. She was predeceased by her mother, Myrtle Locklin Thompson; stepfather, Aldie O. Thompson; and her sister Joyce (John) Cabaniss. She is survived by her dear husband, Bill Hicks; her son, Greg Persondek; daughters, Jill Royster and Janet (Nick) Marcanio; and stepdaughter, Stephany (Frank) Burke. She is also survived by her grandchildren, James (Elizabeth) Ates; Dominic and Jillian Marcanio; Aja (Cody) Beville; Thomas Royster; great-grandchildren, Clay and Colt Ates; and many more beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. The family would like to thank Mel Chandler, Dr. Alejandro Inclan, and Emerald Coast Hospice for their exceptional care of Mama. Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 15, 2016, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel (6405 Highway 90 West, Milton.) Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at McLellan Church of Christ, where Gloria will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Gloria may donate to Emerald Coast Hospice.
