Grady Eaton

Grady W. Eaton, ADRC, USN, Retired June 29, 1937 – July 4, 2014 Mr. Grady W. Eaton, 77, of Milton passed away on Friday, July 4, 2014. Mr. Eaton was born in Mount Airy, North Carolina. He had lived in the Milton area for many years after serving almost 25 years in the United States Navy. Highlights of his Naval Service were the deployments with the Naval Attaché and Defense Attaché in Moravia, Liberia. This assignment included extended travel to countries in North, West and South Africa and also Europe. Upon retirement in 2001 he was employed by Defense Contractors at Whiting Field (Milton, Florida) and Pensacola Naval Air Station (Pensacola, Florida). Mr. Eaton held three licenses from the FAA and was a licensed Amateur Radio Operator by the FCC. He was very generous towards charitable organizations and supported several food programs. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. He is preceded by his parents, William Luther Eaton and Lula Tickle Eaton; and his first wife, Adelene Margaret Eaton. Mr. Eaton is survived by his wife, Joan Nadine Eaton; a brother, Delmare (Carol) Eaton of Cana, Virginia, numerous nieces and nephews in North Carolina and Virginia; and longtime friends, Joana and Scott Buell. Funeral Services for Mr. Eaton will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at the Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel with Rev. Mike Poston officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors in the Barrancas National Cemetery with Lewis Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, prior to services.
