Harry Oscar Tonnessen 1919-2011 Harry Oscar Tonnessen, age 92, was born June 25,1919 in Denbigh, North Dakota residing in Milton the last 55 years. After serving 20 years in the U.S. Navy he retired in 1962, he worked another 20 years as chief engineer at Santa Rosa Hospital. Retiring again he continued his working career in his TV and Appliance business. He enjoyed serving the community through his church , the Optimist Club and Special Olympics. He survived by his wife of 27 years, Virginia; siblings, Dick, Dorothy, Leona, Annabell, Gerry and Kenny; son, Roger Tonnessen, daughters; Dorothy T. Ireland and Judith A Moore; 21 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and his best friend Ron Tucker. Through Marriage he opened his heart to 8 more children he considered his own . The visitation for Mr. Tonnessen will be held at Lewis Funeral Home Milton Chapel on October 31, 2011 at 9:00 am with services following at 10:00 am. The interment will be held at Barrancus National Cemetery in NAS Pensacola. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Special Olympics.
