James Pitman Obituary

James Clifford Pitman, 90, of the Coldwater Community, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Thursday morning, June 21, 2018, after a brief illness. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, receiving a Purple Heart and various other awards, medals and decorations for his service during the Korean War. He was also a 60 plus year member and Past Master of Red Rock Masonic Lodge #96, having enjoyed the fellowship of his fellow Masons and their dedication to the service to the community. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Janice Pitman; his parents, James Absalom and Coealer Pitman; a brother and sister-in-law, Elmer and Wandera Pitman; sisters and brothers-in-law, Eathel and Cecil Pitts and Lillie Mae and George Dunlap, and his infant siblings, Claudeen, Carleen, Jewerleen and Clairbell. He is survived by his daughter, Vanassa Pitman, and granddaughter, Tifanie Pitman; grandson, Michael Simmons, granddaughter Stephanie (Rod) Billups, and their mother JoAnn Chavis, and dad Steve Simmons, and grandsons Raymond (Colleen) Kressler and Fred (Leah) Cartwright. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Jonathon Simmons (Ashley Hall), Christian and Abegayle Simmons, Sierra Kressler, Sophia and Madeline Smith; his great-great- grandchildren, Isabella Simmons, Alissa, Matthew and Joshua LaCour; his brother and sister-in-law, Dewie and JoAnn Pitman; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel (6405 Highway 90, Milton, FL 32570.) Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, June 25, 2018, at Pleasant Home Baptist Church (8500 Pleasant Home Church Road, Holt, FL 32564.) The entire family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Edward Gonzalez, Dr. MaryAnn Ford as well as Barbara Green with the Pensacola Veterans Center; Amy with Kindred At Home and Emerald Coast Hospice and their staff especially Jodi, Traci, Katie, Vicki, Mark, Sarah, Sophia, Jeannie and Jaime for their love, compassion and care during this most difficult time.
