James Elijah Plant "J.E.", 78, of Pace, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015. James was born November 24, 1936, in Pace and was a lifelong resident. He worked many jobs during his life and was a "Jack of all trades!" He mastered anything he put his mind and hands to. He was married for 56 years and was faithful to take his wife to church for those 56 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Burel and Clara Plant. He is survived by his wife, Christine Plant; three sons, Steve (Dawn), Johnny (Carrie), and Jonathan (Anita); seven grandchildren, Virginia, Amanda, Paige, Tamaira, Martin, Joana and Ethan; two great-grandchildren, Dixie and Aria; one sister, Dorothy Hicks; five brothers, Buford, Clayton, Ivan, Joe and Kenny; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 29, 2015, at Lewis Funeral Home, Pace Chapel, and Rev. Tommy Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., prior to the service. Dewey Fowler, Derwin Plant, David Plant, Ronnie Micks, Dennis Fowler and Tony Sanders will serve as active pallbearers. Dale Asberry, Phillip Stewart and Steve Bozeman will serve as honorary pallbearers.
