James Silcox Obituary

James Calvin Silcox, 79, of Milton, Florida died Saturday, October 5, 2013 after a long illness. Calvin was born to the late James Hampton and Lora Mae Silcox, on February 19, 1934 in Mobile, Alabama. He graduated from Murphy High School in 1951 and received his degree from Livingston State University. He was married to the late Jo Doris (Murphy) Silcox of Milton. Calvin was employed by American Cyanamid until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John Thomas and Alice (McCann) Silcox of Pace, and Andrew and Nellie (Penton) Curry of Mobile; a brother, Carl Hampton Silcox of Mobile, Alabama; a sister Mary Carolyn (Silcox) March of Loxely, Alabama, a son, Mike Ward of Milton. Calvin is survived by his two sons, Steve Silcox (Tammy) of Satsuma, Alabama, Mark Silcox (Cathy) of Milton and a step son David Ward of Mississippi; three brothers, Conrad (Connie) Silcox of Daphne, Alabama, Cordell Silcox of Citronelle, Alabama, and Curtis Silcox of Ardmore, Tennessee; a sister Catherine (Missy) Silcox Williams of Fayetteville, Tennessee; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral Services will be held at 5 pm on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at the Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel with Bro. Curtis Silcox officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 pm, prior to services.
