James Speer

James Michael Speer, 28, of Navarre, Florida, passed away, Monday, March 20, 2017. James was a native of Navarre, Florida, and was the oldest son of Ervin and Dawn Speer. James was a 2006 graduate of Navarre High School. He attended the University of West Florida and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Children in Society in 2011. He has been employed at Walmart in Gulf Breeze since 2006. James faithfully attended his home church, Holley Assembly of God. He loved to work with the youth of the Navarre area. Every time the church had a youth day for work or play he was the first to volunteer his time to assist in any way needed. James is a faithful servant of Jesus Christ. James is survived by his parents, Ervin and Dawn Speer; and one brother, Joshua Speer of Navarre, Florida. He is also survived by his grandmothers, Lib Speer and Martha Baldick of Mocksville, North Carolina; great-grandparents, Don and Pearle Palme of Greenville, Ohio; many aunts and uncles, Donald and Stephanie Speer of Mocksville, North Carolina, Missy and Thomas Baity of Mocksville, North Carolina, Sarah and Phil Kelton of Ocala, Florida, Bruce and Darlene Baldick of East Bend, North Carolina; great- uncle, David Speer of Mocksville, North Carolina; and many other relatives in North Carolina. Funeral services for James will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 24, 2017, at Holley Assembly of God Church in Navarre, with Rev. Doug Barber officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., prior to the service. Lewis Funeral Home, Navarre, Florida, has been entrusted with local arrangements. Burial will be held in Chestnut Methodist Church Cemetery, Mocksville, North Carolina. The family wishes to thank the First Responders and the staff of Gulf Breeze Hospital of Santa Rosa County for their love and care.
