James T. Vess, 72, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 11, 2013. He was the son of the late Guy and Beulah Vess. A native of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Jim retired in Pensacola, Florida. Jim was a retired MSGT in the U.S. Air Force and is also retired from the U.S. Post Office. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Marne Vess; two children, Edward Vess of the U.S. Air Force and Elizabeth Sater of Shreveport, Louisiana; three step children, Kami Stevens, Jeff Hobby both of Houston, Texas, and Cindy Kamps of Richmond, Virginia; five grandchildren; sister, Doris (Joe) Moore of Conover, North Carolina; three brothers, Ralph (Myra) Vess and Harold (Becky) Vess of Rock Hill, South Carolina and Raymond (Katherine) Vess of Fleming Island, Florida. Family will receive friends from 11a.m. to 12:00p.m. at the Lewis Funeral Home Pace Chapel on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013. A graveside services will follow at 2:00p.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery with Air Force honors.
