JD Warrick

Mr. J.D. Warrick, 92, of Jay, died Tuesday, December 18, 2018. Mr. Warrick was a native and lifelong resident of Jay. He was the son of the late Elmer and Louise (Booker) Warrick. He was a WWII US Navy Veteran. He was a Gunner’s Mate 3rd Class on the USS Lehigh, USS Cowpens and the USS Rendova. He served in the Pacific Theater. He retired after 26 years from the St Regis Paper Company. He was an active member of American Legion Post 121 where he served as Past District Commander and Past Area Commander of Northwest Florida. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Hood Warrick; two sisters, Vida Mae McCurdy and Mary Louise Reeves; and his granddaughter, Judy Flowers. He is survived by his son, Jim (Beth) Warrick, of Elberton; two step-sons, Ray (Terri) Hood, of Pensacola, and Bruce A. (Ann) Hood, of Falmouth, Maine; step-daughter, Laura (George) Kalanta, of Auburn, Alabama; eight grandchildren, Kristy, John, Ann, Steven, April, Cory, Kim and Ken; thirteen great-grandchildren; brother, Wayne Warrick, of Brewton, Alabama; and a special niece, Arlene Delafosse, of Atmore, Alabama. Funeral Services for Mr. Warrick will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, December 21, 2018, at the Mt Carmel United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mark Barfield officiating. Burial will follow services in the church cemetery with Navy Honors and Lewis Funeral Home of Milton directing. Active pallbearers will be John Hood, Karston Hood, Hughston Hood, Alton Flowers, Jackson Flowers and Cory Baker. Visitation will be held 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., prior to the services.
