Jean Caris

Jean Marie Caris, 88, of Milton, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017. Mrs. Caris was born in Columbus, Ohio, to Edward H. Hopper and Bernice W. Hartley Hopper. Mrs. Caris worked for Rockwell Industries during the early NASA years. She also worked in the nursing field for a number of years. In 1962, Mrs. Caris received the Medal of Valor for the rescue and successfully performing of C.P.R. on an infant who had fallen into a pool. Mrs. Caris is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Edward “Ed” P. Hopper; a sister, Martha Horch; and her oldest daughter, Lynda Jean Caris. She is survived by her son, Robert Dale (Suzanne) Caris, Jr.; two daughters, Teresa Elaine Caris (Edward) Sigda and Roberta Lynn Caris Wheeler; eight grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
