Jean Sanders Crain passed away Friday, June 13, 2014, after making nearly 94 trips around the sun. She filled each one of her days with an incredible love for others based firmly in her service to Jesus Christ, her Savior. She was a great ambassador for Christianity, always smiling and sharing joy and care with others. A native of Holt, Florida, she and her family later moved to Milton, where her dad ran the bus station. She met and married George Crain, and they had one son, George Jr. She joined First Baptist Church on November 4, 1945, and remained a faithful member for 68 years. She enjoyed singing in the church’s Adult Choir and the Senior Adult Choir, "The Golden Voices." She was a member of the XYZ Senior Adult Ministry and rarely missed a trip or a luncheon. She retired from the Santa Rosa County School Board after 38 years and served as a volunteer at Santa Rosa Medical Center for many years. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, George Crain, Jr., and Sylvia of Milton; two granddaughters, Romi White of Milton and Trendi Jones of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; five great-grandchildren: Brennan, Brady and Raina White, and Jake and Jaci Johnson; one sister, Thelma Mayo of Milton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Crain, Sr; her parents, Dewey and Frances Sanders; a sister, Barbara Hardy; and brother, Bill Sanders. A celebration of her amazing life will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, June 16, at First Baptist Church of Milton with Dr. David Spencer officiating. Her nephew, Rev. Fred Rogers, will provide her eulogy. Visitation will begin at 2:30. Pallbearers are her great-grandsons, Brennan and Brady White and Jake Johnson; Doug Gillis; and nephews, Tommy Thomas and Guy Jensen. Honorary pallbearers are Guy Thompson, Tommy Weekley, Lamar Faulkner, Robert Smith, Howard Daughtery, Clint Anderson, Jim Waters and the Fidelis Sunday School class members and teacher Pat Lunsford. She will be warmly remembered for her generous, caring spirit and vibrant, fun-loving personality. Memorial donations may be made to the “Sight and Sound” fund at First Baptist Church, Milton.
