Jeannette Fox Milton, Florida Obituary

Jeannette Fox

Jeannette Boles Fox., 82, a 50 year resident of Gulf Breeze, with a smile on her face, went to be with The Lord Jesus on Oct. 30, 2013. Affectionately called "Mee Maw Fox" by her (wrecking crew) grandchildren, she was born on Nov. 15, 1930 in Bagdad, Florida to her parents William Brady and Trudie (Thomas) Boles. Her father worked at the Bagdad Mill until it closed because of the The Great Depression. The family moved to Allentown, where her grandfather G. W. Boles had a farm. Later, they came to live in Warrington. "Net" as she was known by her family and friends was the oldest of 5 children. Being 8 to 16 years older than her other siblings, she took on the role as a second mother to them. Jeannette graduated from Pensacola High School class of 1949. She played clarinet in the Tiger Marching Band. After High School she went to the clerical school in Milton, Florida. One night a young sailor named Richard Fox came to her Church with a friend. He asked Richard, "which girl would you like to date." To which he answered, "the strawberry blond over there." Richard and Jeannette were married on Dec. 3, 1950. The union lasted for almost 60 years. In 1959 they moved from Beach Haven to Gulf Breeze. Being a working wife and mother she started her career as a secretary for the Parkhurst company. In 1965 her friendly personality and ability to type 180 words a minute landed her a job with the Telco Credit Union in Pensacola. Working with the manager Madge Glaze, who would become her lifelong friend, she was promoted to office manager, then Vice President, and finally as the president. To Jeannette the staff and the members of the credit union were a part of her family. She always took a special interest in their lives. After 27 years in 1992 she retired and was elected to the Credit Union Hall of Fame. As a young girl she received Jesus as her personal Savior. As a mother she made sure her son "Chip" and daughter "Sissy" grew up attending Church. It was a joy for her to teach a preschool Sunday school class for many years at the First Baptist Church of Gulf Breeze. After her son finished seminary, she and "Fox" joined and became charter members of Avalon Baptist Church where Chip pastored. She lived her life as a faithful servant of The Lord. Jeannette enjoyed shopping , planting flowers, watching the birds that came to her yard, traveling with her husband, but most of all she loved preparing special meals for her family. Her grandchildren were the love of her life. Each of them had many special days with Mee Maw and Paw Paw Fox they will never forget. Around 2009 she became a resident of the Uni-Health Nursing Home suffering from dementia. Jeannette's family greatly appreciates the wonderful care she received at the facility. To all the staff thank you!! Also, we are grateful for the diligent care of the Covenant Hospice. She is preceded in death by her loving husband "Fox", and her brother Bill Boles.
